WHO IS ANKAH?
Behind the name ANKAH, you’ll find the danish composer/singersongwriter Anna Kathrine Christensen. She seamlessly blends intricate harmonies with heartfelt lyrics and lush grooves, creating a sound reminiscent of 90’s R&B with a hint of indie pop and neo-soul.
In 2023, she released her EP, “Soaked,” which received airplay on P8 JAZZ and was featured in Soundvenue. Drawing inspiration from Danish literary icons such as Inger Christensen and Tove Ditlevsen, ANKAH challenges the idealized portrayals of love in pop culture, carving out space for alternative perspectives to thrive. Additionally she has composed music for the theater piece “DIX,” which earned “Best Performance” at Scenekunstens Priser, 2023.
ANKAH performed at Lille Vega and SPOT festival before she had even released any music. She has been nominated for two awards at the Scandinavian Soul Music Awards and took home the prize for ‘Best Newcomer’. With her strong melodies and laid-back flow, ANKAH delivers a raw live performance that celebrates the vulnerable and unfiltered.

I collaborate with political activist and clothing designer Fadi Zumot, who challenges norms and constructed gender identities through their bold designs. Together, we work to create the visual universe around ANKAH, envisioning the limitless archetypes she expresses – both feminine and masculine.
